Under-18 National Team Opens With Win

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The U.S. National Under-18 team opened its 1999-00 season with a 3-2 win over the Fargo-Moorhead Ice Sharks of the United States Hockey League (USHL).

Jon Waibel, Rob Globke and RJ Umberger scored second-period goals to pace the US win. Globke and Umberger each finished the night with two points.

Rob Bonk made 15 saves in the win for Team USA. Justin Ferguson stopped 32 shots in the loss for the Ice Sharks, which got goals from Ryan Ronkoski and Andy Walbert.

The teams square off again on Saturday at 7 p.m., at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube.
