Under-18 National Team Wins Second Straight Against Fargo

With 4-3 Shootout Victory

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The U.S. National Under-18 team needed an overtime and a shootout to down Fargo-Moorhead, 4-3 Saturday night at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube.

Fargo scored three goals in the third period to force the overtime and shootout, but its efforts fell short as Rob Globke got the game-winner on the fifth shot of the five-shot shootout. U.S. goaltender Nick Pannoni finished with 33 saves and stopped four of the five Fargo shootout attempts. Forward David Steckel added a goal and an assist to the winning effort for the Under-18 squad.

With the victory, the Under-18 team opens the 1999-2000 season with a 2-0 mark, while Fargo drops to 0-2. The U.S. National Under-17 team is in action tomorrow afternoon against Texas at the Cube. Game time is 3 p.m.
