CM wins Mutch Cup
Allston, Mass. – In the Kevin T. Mutch Cup tonight at Harvard University’s Bright Hockey Center, Catholic Memorial edged St. Sebastian’s, 2-1.

After a scoreless first period, junior John Malewicz, breaking down the left side, beat St. Seb’s senior goalie Gord Donnelly short side with 6:15 left in the second. Just 1:24 later, CM senior defenseman Jared Beckwith fired a low hard shot from the right point that beat Donnelly with what turned out to be the game-winning goal.

With 3:01 left in the period, St. Seb’s 8th grader Cam Askew beat CM’s big junior goalie Shane Starrett five-hole to make it a one-goal game.

That was as close as St. Seb’s would get. Despite several third-period power plays, they were unable to get another shot past Starrett, who was the difference in this game.
