NHL Central Scouting Preliminary List Released
The NHL's Central Scouting Service released its Preliminary Players to Watch List today.
It's a PDF file with the first three sections devoted to North American players. The fourth and final section, European players, starts on page 16. And the final player listed there -- way down on page 22 -- is Alexandre Texier of the Bruleurs de Loups de Grenoble (The Grenoble Wolf Burners), a grisly team name if there ever was one. Word has it that in the 17th century townspeople got a little fed up with wolves attacking their livestock and one night the peasantry cornered a pack of them in a section of forest and burned them alive. The team logo is of a wolf on fire.
At any rate, Texier hopes to become the sixth French-developed player to reach the NHL, joining Philipe Bozon, Christobal Huet, Stephane Da Costa, Antoine Roussel, and Pierre-Edouard Bellamare. (Bozon and Huet were also former Wolf Burners.)
