Berkshire Jamboree
@ Sheffield, Mass.

Rink 1:
Pomfret 1, Nichols 1
Kent 4, Berkshire 3
NMH 4, Pomfret 2
Northwood 3, Berkshire 0

Rink 2:
Brunswick 2, NMH 1
Gunnery 6, Northwood 1
Nichols 3, Brunswick 1
Kent 4, Gunnery 3

Quick highlights:

New Kent junior Boo Nieves made his impact felt right away, scoring the game-winner with five seconds left to lift Kent over Berkshire, 4-3. In Kent's second game, a 4-3 win over Gunnery, Nieves added a great goal. Senior captain Noel Acciari also was very good for Kent. For Gunnery, junior forwards Drew Smolcynski and Jarrid Privitera had nice games. For NMH, Austin Cangelosi, a sophomore, made his usual number of good plays. Riley Bourbonnais looked good for Berkshire. For Nichols, junior Andrew Poturalski played with poise, and showed a good stick. In goal, Northwood's Jake Brennan shut out Berkshire, 3-0.

Belmont Hill Jamboree Notes
In morning action, Belmont Hill looked sharp in skating past Winchendon, 6-1. Ken Martin has three well-balanced, solid lines. Junior Jimmy Vesey looked strong, a little quicker than last year. Senior Alex DeBaere was a force all game, working hard, and notching at least two goals.

The lines:
DeBaere-McNally-Brennan
M. McNamara-Najjar-Albert
Doherty-Vesey-Gustin
Rauseo-Leary-Rhodes

Five defensemen rotated:
J.McNamara, Csaplar, Welch, Goguen, Connors. (Hanson will be back from an injury in a couple of weeks to give them six.)

Junior goaltender David Cunningham blanked Winchendon in the first, then gave way to senior Matthew Perrotta.

In the second game, Governor's topped Proctor, 8-4. Ceglarski had two goals, with Murphy, Minter, Rooney, Ferriero, Holmes, and Sullivan notching one apiece for Gov’s.

For Proctor, new sophomore Connor Simon, who played at Trinity HS in Manchester, NH last season, was a bit of a revelation. We’d seen him at Select 16s in Rochester over the summer, and thought he was just OK there. Today, he was more than that, as the 6’3”, 175 lb. forward pretty much single-handedly brought his team back from an early 2-0 deficit, scoring a pair of quick goals to even the score at 2-2. A ’94 birthdate, he’s big, physical, protects the puck well, and is pretty hard to miss out there. He’s raw, and has a long way to go, but he’s a strong Div. I prospect.

Late scores:

Winchendon 5, St. Andrews College 5
Belmont Hill 8, Proctor 1
Governor's 0, St. Andrew's 0 (in progress; 1st period)

Yale Showcase Results

-- at Yale University, New Haven, Conn. All games are scrimmages.

9:00 am -- Hill Academy 4, Williston-Northampton 0

The Hill Academy (Vaughn, Ont.), behind the shutout goaltending of Dylan Pietrangelo, blanked Williston-Northampton, 4-0. Hill forward Devin Shore had a strong game. 5'4" Zach Avolio was quite noticeable, too. Hill's Maine recruit, center Ryan Lomberg, did not play due to injury.

11:00 am -- Delbarton 7, Northwood 3

Senior Peter McMullen, who is going to Bucknell on a lacrosse scholarship, had four goals for Delbarton. Senior D Matt Killian is back with Delbarton after playing this fall with the NTDP.

1:00 pm -- Rice Memorial 2, Pomfret 1

3:00 pm -- Milton 3, Northfield-Mt.Hermon 2

Milton Academy Senior Woody Hudson netted the game-winner in a good, close game.

5:00 pm -- Gunnery 3, Cushing 2

Another good, close game, with junior Jake Wood scoring  a pair -- including the game-winner -- for Gunnery.

7:00 pm -- Brunswick 2, Hill School 1

6'4" sophomore Kevin Duane scored the game-winner. And senior captain Tommy Dwyer, a Holy Cross recruit, had a strong game.
