New England Prep Hockey Rankings

Rank Record The Skinny
1
Salisbury
13-1-1
(1) Haven't lost since the first game of the season, a 3-2 decision to Taft. Must have been their wake-up call. Salisbury has outscored its opponents 20-6 over the last 3 games. On the season, averaging 5.69 GPG; 1.89 GAA. LAST WEEK: Beat Cushing, 8-1; beat Westy, 5-4; beat Choate, 7-1. THIS WEEK: @ T-P (Wed.), @ Kent (Sat.)
2
Dexter
15-1-0
(3) Have outscored opponents 25-3 since their loss to LA in the Watkins finale. Sophomore G Ryan Kazmouz (0.75/.971) has shutouts in 3 of his 4 starts this season (2 of 3 since freshman Dylan Silverstein went overseas with the US Junior Olympic Team). Junior F Matt Copponi is 3-7-10 over his last 4 games. Dexter has 9 players -- that includes 3 d-men -- averaging a point per game or better. Team GPG is a gaudy 5.69; GAA is 1.94. LAST WEEK: Beat New Hampton, 4-0; beat Hill, 7-0. THIS WEEK: vs. Thayer (Fri.), vs. Brooks (Sat.)
3
Lawrence Academy
11-1-0
(2) Have allowed 4 goals in each of the last 3 games, something that hadn't happened even once in the 9 previous games. So that's a worrying sign. Junior C David Sacco is 4-4-8 over the last 3 games. Senior C Conor Lovett is as consistent as a metronome: he's been held pointless just twice this season. LA has 7 players averaging a point per game or more this season -- and two, Kyle Furey and Damien Carfagna, are blueliners. Team GPG is 4.50; GAA is 1.91. LAST WEEK: Beat Nobles, 5-4; beat Thayer, 6-4. THIS WEEK: vs. Milton (Wed.), @ Nobles (Fri.)
4
Avon Old Farms
12-1-0
(4) Junior G Connor Callaghan (1.68/.929) has allowed 4 goals over the last 5 games, with 2 shutouts. On Monday, the Winged Beavers blanked Kent, 6-0, avenging a Dec. 19th Xmas Classic loss. Since that loss Avon has outscored opponents, 33-10. Over the last 5, they've outscored opponents, 19-4. En fuego, no? LAST WEEK: beat Hotchkiss, 4-1; beat Pomfret, 4-2; beat Kent, 6-0. THIS WEEK: @ NMH (Wed.), @ Berkshire (Sat.), @ Westy (Mon.)
5
Kimball Union
13-3-1
(7) Last season, KUA lost its third game in the Flood-Marr -- and only lost once thereafter en route to its 3rd straight prep title. This season, KUA lost its third game on Jan. 3rd (to St. Andrew's College in the True Prep Cup). Last year, they suffered loss #4 in mid-January -- to Deerfield, for the second time -- and didn't lose again the rest of the way. Now, they have 15 games left in the regular season -- and are actually a game ahead of last year's pace. LAST WEEK: Beat VA, 1-0 (forfeit); beat SPS, 2-0. THIS WEEK: vs. Deerfield (Wed.), @ Brewster (Fri.), vs. Stanstead (Sat.)
6
Loomis Chaffee
8-2-2
(5) Loomis is 2-2-2 over its last 6 games. And the schedule is tough the rest of the way, with games against Avon (2x), Cushing, and Salisbury. LAST WEEK: lost to Deerfield, 5-1. THIS WEEK: vs. Taft (Wed.), vs. Westy (Fri.), vs. Cushing (Sat.)
7
St. Sebastian's
10-3-0
(10) The 3 games Arrows have lost thus far were close contests against solid teams (Brunswick, Nobles, and Belmont Hill). Seb's has talented underclassmen, and experienced seniors to lead the way. Their schedule is tough the rest of the way, though, with games against LA (2x), and a chance to avenge those losses to Nobles and Belmont Hill. They average 4.77 GPG, and allow 1.73. LAST WEEK: Beat Tabor, 5-3. THIS WEEK: @ Andover (Wed.), vs. Gov's. (Sat.)
8
Brunswick
10-4-2
(8) All 4 of Brunswick's losses have come to Teams Under Consideration, i.e Top 16 in the RPI. They are: Hotchkiss, Loomis, St. Andrew's College, and Salisbury. But they can't lose focus. Last Friday, Kents Hill brought its 2-12-1 (at the time) record into Brunswick's barn and skated off with a 1-1 tie. Brunswick's GPG is 3.67; and its team GAA is 2.24. At the Belmont Hill-Nichols Tournament two of their three preliminary games were won in OT. And they won the title with a 1-0 win over host Bel Hill. Since losing the first two games of the season (to Hotchkiss and Loomis), Brunswick has gone 12-2-2, with the two losses coming at the hands of St. Andrew's College and Salisbury. LAST WEEK: Tied Kents Hill, 1-1, beat Millbrook, 3-1. THIS WEEK: @ Hill (Sat.)
9
Noble & Greenough
9-4-1
(9) Over two-thirds of Nobles' goals come from 3 players: Casey Severo (14), Jack Cronin (9), and David Jacobs (8). Losses have come to Pomfret (in the season opener), Dexter, Hotchkiss, and LA. Nobles has won 5 of 6 in the new decade. Their schedule the rest of the way includes a rematch vs. LA on Friday. Nobles could use a little secondary scoring. The Bulldogs' team GPG is 3.36; GAA is 2.23. LAST WEEK: lost to LA, 5-4; beat Middlesex, 4-1. THIS WEEK: vs. LA (Fri.), @ Andover (Sat.)
10
Kent
9-5-0
(6) Kent has hit a bump, losing 3 of their last 4. Two were to teams in this poll. The other was to Trinity-Pawling, a game in which the Lions blew a 4-2 third-period lead and wound up losing in OT. Then they got smacked by Avon, 6-0. Kent must get back to their winning ways @ Hotchkiss this Wednesday. LAST WEEK: Lost to T-P, 5-4 (OT), lost to Avon, 6-0. THIS WEEK: @ Hotchkiss (Wed.), vs. Salisbury (Sat.)
* Note: Only games between NEPSIHA Div. I schools -- the principal factor in determining seedings for the playoffs -- are included in the won-lost records above.
