New England Prep Hockey Rankings

Rank Record The Skinny
1
Avon Old Farms
21-2-0
(1) Team GPG/GAA: 4.65/1.45 Very impressive win Saturday at Salisbury. The Winged Beavers have now won 8 in a row, and 16 of 17. 'Nuff said. LAST WEEK: Beat Choate, 8-2; beat Salisbury, 3-0. THIS WEEK: vs. Canterbury (Wed.), vs. Loomis (Sat.)
2
Salisbury
19-3-1
(2) Team GPG/GAA: 3.96/1.95 Got blanked, 3-0, by Avon on Saturday. Avoiding a two-game losing streak should be motivation enough as they prepare for Wednesday's game at Hotchkiss. Of course, Hotchkiss will have plenty of motivation, too. Look for a tight, low-scoring game. LAST WEEK: Beat Kent, 3-0; lost to Avon, 0-3. THIS WEEK: @ Hotchkiss (Wed.), @ Canterbury (Sat.)
3
Lawrence Academy
20-2-2
(3) Team GPG/GAA: 4.33/2.03 On Saturday at LA, St. Mark's came from behind to take a 4-3 third-period lead over the Spartans, but David Sacco scored a PPG in the final minutes to salvage the tie. Focus now will be on Wednesday's game at St. Seb's. Last month at LA, the Spartans edged Seb's, 3-2, on Riley Duran's last-second goal. This time, LA will be at Seb's, and we're expecting another nail-biter. LAST WEEK: Beat Gov's, 3-1; beat BB&N, 7-1, tied St. Mark's, 4-4. THIS WEEK: @ Seb's (Wed.), @ Tabor (Sat.)
4
Hotchkiss
17-4-2
(5) Team GPG/GAA: 3.13/1.53 Hotchkiss was 6-4-0 on Jan. 15th, but hasn't lost since (11-0-2). Haven't allowed more than 2 goals in a game since a 3-3 tie at Berkshire on Jan. 20th. Wednesday, the Bearcats host Salisbury, to whom they lost twice in December, including the Flood-Marr title game. Hotchkiss is eyeing a different result this time around. LAST WEEK: Beat Loomis, 4-0; tied Kent, 2-2; beat T-P, 4-2. THIS WEEK: vs. Salisbury (Wed.); vs. Taft (Sat.)
5
Dexter
22-4-0
(4) Team GPG/GAA: 5.73/2.16 Were 11-0-0 on Jan. 3rd and 11-4-0 since, with losses to LA (twice), Thayer, and New Hampton -- all TUCs. They've also beaten LA and New Hampton. They're #4 in JSPR. LAST WEEK: Beat Berwick, 9-1; beat Winchendon, 9-3; beat Kents Hill, 11-1. THIS WEEK: vs. Hoosac (Wed.)
6
Kimball Union
23-5-2
(6) Team GPG/GAA: 4.77/2.24 Sullivan Mack (Cornell) has 39 goals, the most in prep hockey. Linemate Tomas Mazura (PC) has 56 assists. That leads prep hockey too. KUA is coming off a rugged 4-3 win vs. Cushing Saturday -- they needed a last-minute goal from Bryce Bollman to get the W. The Wildcats have a budding rivalry going with New Hampton, another high-scoring team. They've split their games, but could have a third meeting in the title game of the Lakes Region Tournament finale Saturday. LAST WEEK: Beat VA, 10-1; tied Proctor, 0-0; beat Holderness, 2-1; beat Cushing, 4-3. THIS WEEK: Lakes Region Tournament (Fri.-Sat.)
7
Noble & Greenough
17-5-2
(7) Team GPG/GAA: 3.71/2.21 Nobles is 9-1-1 over its last 11. The Jacobs-Severo-Cronin line has 58 goals. That's nearly two-thirds of the team's total. LAST WEEK: Beat BB&N, 9-0; beat Belmont Hill, 4-0. THIS WEEK: vs. Governor's (Wed.), @ Milton (Sat.)
8
Berkshire
16-7-2
(NR) Team GPG/GAA: 3.44/2.07 The Bears were a game under .500 and the losers of 5 straight when they skated off the ice after a Jan. 11th loss at home to Williston. Since then, they've gone 11-1-1. This week, they face two teams that beat them when things weren't going well -- Millbrook and Gunnery. Millbrook is a TUC now, so that's a key game on Wednesday. Seniors Aidan Thompson (Denver) and Briggs Gammill (Yale) have 42 goals between them. That's half of the team's total goals. In net, 6'3" junior Jed Baliotti (2.04/.927) has backstopped 11 games in which he's allowed one or fewer goals against. LAST WEEK: Beat T-P, 4-2; beat Westy, 6-5. THIS WEEK: vs. Millbrook (Wed.), @ Gunnery (Sat.)
9
Cushing
19-7-3
(9) Team GPG/GAA: 4.59/1.94 The Penguins were sporting a 13-game unbeaten streak (11-0-2) until they went up to KUA on Saturday and lost a close one, 4-3. This is a team that's grown into a tough out since the early season. They'll probably fall a little short of the Elite 8, but one never knows. Wednesday's game with New Hampton is big for both teams. LAST WEEK: Beat Andover, 4-2; beat Kents Hill, 3-0; lost to KUA, 3-4. THIS WEEK: vs. New Hampton (Wed.), vs. Gov's (Sat.)
10
New Hampton
21-7-3
(10) Team GPG/GAA: 4.58/2.70 Another team that's gotten better as the season has moved along. Since back-to-back losses to LA and Cushing at the Watkins Tournament, New Hampton has gone 13-2-2 -- and that includes splits with KUA and Dexter. (The Huskies may face KUA again in the Saturday finale of the Lakes Region Tournament.) Senior Isaac MacLeod, a Dartmouth recruit, has 37 goals, second only to KUA's Mack. There are several other teams -- Loomis, St. Mark's, Brunswick -- who came close to nabbing the final slot in this, the season's final poll. LAST WEEK: Beat VA, 9-0; tied Proctor, 1-1. THIS WEEK: @ Cushing (Wed.), @ Lakes Region Tournament (Fri.-Sat.)
* Note: Only games between NEPSIHA Div. I schools -- the principal factor in determining seedings for the playoffs -- are included in the won-lost records above.
