New England Prep Hockey Rankings

Rank Record The Skinny
1
Avon Old Farms
16-2-0
(2) Team GPG/GAA: 4.33/1.47. The Winged Beavers outscored their opponents 11-1 last week. They are also 11-1-0 over their last 12. Wednesday, they face Westminster and, although the Martlets are having an off-year, they do get revved up for the Avon game. LAST WEEK: Beat Loomis, 7-0; beat Choate, 4-1. THIS WEEK: vs. Westy (Wed.)
2
Lawrence Academy
15-2-0
(4) Team GPG/GAA: 4.65/2.06. Last week, we pointed out that LA and junior G Tomas Pientka had won their four prior games by scores of 5-4, 5-4, 6-4, and 7-5. That didn't strike us as sustainable. In the 4 games since then, Pientka has given up 3,1,1, & 2 goals. Coach Robbie Barker says Pientka is more 'comfortable' now. Hard to argue with that. LAST WEEK: Beat Gov's, 3-1; beat Tabor, 7-1; beat Dexter, 6-2. THIS WEEK: @ Belmont Hill (Wed.); vs. Hebron (Fri.)
3
Salisbury
15-2-1
(1) Team GPG/GAA: 4.28/2.03 Blew a 2-goal third period lead against Gunnery a week ago, but a Cole Vallese goal with 26 seconds on the clock saved their bacon. LAST WEEK: Beat Gunnery, 6-5. THIS WEEK: vs. T-P (Wed.)
4
Dexter
17-3-0
(3) Team GPG/GAA: 5.30/2.11. The loss to LA was a tough one, as Dexter was outplayed in every facet of the game. Seniors John Fusco and Aidan Connelly are injured, but should be back soon. Dexter needs all hands on deck now. LAST WEEK: Beat St. George's, 3-2; lost to LA, 2-6. THIS WEEK: vs. Pomfret (Wed.), @ Andover (Sat.)
5
Hotchkiss
12-4-1
(9) Team GPG/GAA: 3.00/1.76. The Bearcats poured in 8 goals in win at Deerfield Saturday. Hotchkiss hadn't scored more than 5 goals in a game until that one. They probably won't score 8 again. But the goals Hotchkiss does score are timely, and, in senior Henry Wilder, they have the goaltending to steal some games along the way. LAST WEEK: Beat Berkshire, 2-0; beat Deerfield, 8-2; beat T-P, 3-1. THIS WEEK: vs. Choate (Wed.)
6
Kimball Union
17-4-1
(7) Team GPG/GAA: 4.54/2.41. They likely have to be perfect to have a shot at home ice in the playoffs. LAST WEEK: Beat Exeter, 4-1; beat Tilton, 5-4. THIS WEEK: vs. NMH (Wed.), @ Holderness (Fri.), @ New Hampton (Sat.)
7
Loomis Chaffee
11-3-3
(5) Team GPG/GAA: 4.10/2.02. They were awful in their 7-0 blanking at the hands of Avon last week. Can't allow that to happen, especially this season with so many teams bunched tightly together. LAST WEEK: Lost to Avon, 0-7; beat Andover, 4-1. THIS WEEK: vs. Williston (Wed.)
8
Noble & Greenough
12-4-2
(8) Team GPG/GAA: 3.50/2.35. Most of their games are close, and most of them Nobles has won. They have consistent goaltending in senior Marc Smith, and a strong top line of Casey Severo centering Jack Cronin and David Jacobs. LAST WEEK: Tied Seb's, 4-4; beat Rivers, 6-3. THIS WEEK: @ Thayer (Wed.), @ Tabor (Fri.)
9
St. Sebastian's
12-4-1
(6) Team GPG/GAA: 4.53/2.12. Losing the Thayer game was tough, but they do get a rematch -- at home -- in the final game of the season. LAST WEEK: Tied Nobles, 4-4; lost to Thayer, 1-4. THIS WEEK: @ Milton (Wed.), vs. St. Mark's (Sat.)
10
Brunswick
13-4-2
(10) Team GPG/GAA: 4.05/2.28. The Bruins' schedule the rest of the way is favorable, which is fortunate for them. They have to be at the top of their game every time out in order to make the Elite 8 field. LAST WEEK: Beat Pope Francis, 7-5; beat Williston, 4-0. THIS WEEK: @ L'ville (Wed.), @ AA (Fri.)
* Note: Only games between NEPSIHA Div. I schools -- the principal factor in determining seedings for the playoffs -- are included in the won-lost records above.
